Resource fields
What one field costs, how much it makes, how long the upgrade takes, and why spreading same-type fields beats rushing one to 10.
Woodcutter, Clay Pit, Iron Mine, and Cropland share one production curve. They do not share costs or build times — each type has its own table below.
A standard village has 18 fields: four wood, four clay, four iron, six crop. Capital fields go to 20. Other villages stop at 10.
Production per field
One field at that level, before Sawmill / Brickyard / Iron Foundry / Grain Mill / Bakery, oases, or Plus. The per-hour column already uses game speed from the left menu (10x on this world). An unbuilt tile is level 0.

Costs and build times
Upgrade costs do not change with server speed. Time uses game speed and the Main Building level in the left menu. No Main Building makes the job five times slower.

Pop and culture points for the same upgrades are on the buildings tables.
Optimal patterns
Worked example: four woodcutters. Clay, iron, and crop use the same production table, so the shape of the answer is the same. Hours and queue times use game speed and Main Building from the left menu (10x / Main Building 1).
Spread same-type fields. Keep them within one level.
Costs grow ~1.67× per level. The extra production from the next level does not keep up. Rushing one woodcutter 0→10 spends 62,585 for 2,060 wood/h. The same budget as 8-7-7-7 yields 3,100 wood/h (+1,040, +50%). Even 7-7-7-7 (52,580, 2h 34m) beats the rush.
Four woodcutters: wood/h for the same (or less) budget
Rush 0→10 costs 62,585 and queues 2h 54m. 8-7-7-7 is 61,640 and 3h 0m — and produces 1,040 more wood per hour. 7-7-7-7 spends less and still beats the rush.

| 10-0-0-0 | Rush one field | 62,585 | 2h 54m | 2,060 | 329 |
| 8-7-7-7 | Same budget, spread | 61,640 | 3h 0m | 3,100 | 503 |
| 7-7-7-7 | Less spend and queue | 52,580 | 2h 34m | 2,800 | 533 |

One field: production versus spend
An unbuilt tile is 2 base → 20/h. Each upgrade multiplies the step cost by ~1.67; wood/h does not. That is why one field at 10 loses to four fields near 7–8.
Wood/h by level

Marginal ROI falls from L1 to L10
Extra wood/h from the next level, per 1,000 resources (or per queue-minute). L1 returns 120 wood/h per 1k; L10 returns 22. Payback stretches from 8.3h to 45.9h.

L1 queue time by field type
Same +30/h on every type. Crop is the fastest L1; iron is the slowest. Pattern charts above are woodcutters only.
How to calculate
- Δprod = wood/h at this level − wood/h at the previous level (L1 versus the unbuilt tile).
- ROIcost = Δprod ÷ resources spent on that step. Higher is better. The charts use that × 1,000.
- Compare the same spend (10-0-0-0 vs 8-7-7-7) or the same queue time. Do not compare “level 10” to “level 7” as if those labels cost the same.
- Always raise the lowest same-type field. That is the next step with the highest remaining ROI.
When to break the rule
Need one matching field at 10 and
Main Building 5. Push that one field ahead, then go back to even. See prerequisites.
Grain Mill only needs Cropland 5.
Bakery needs Cropland 10, Mill 5, and Main Building 5.- If the warehouse is about to cap that resource, extra field levels dump. Raise storage, spend, NPC, or convert — do not keep spreading production you cannot hold. See production and storage.
- On a 9-crop or 15-crop, still keep crop fields within one level of each other, but you can run crop ahead of wood, clay, and iron. The crop finder is how you hunt those tiles.
- Only the capital goes to 20. L11–L20 is the same bad curve, worse. Do it when that village needs the extra, not because 20 is a round number.
Woodcutter L1–L10 (derived from the tables above)
Per-hour uses game speed. Queue uses game speed and Main Building. Δ/h is versus the previous level (L1 versus unbuilt 20/h).
